eHealth Adoption Awards 2017

The Awards that recognise the work of adopters and their technological suppliers in implementing eHealth innovation for the benefit of patients

Finalist teams will publicly present their success story on 11 May 2017 at the eHealth Week in Malta

My diabetes my way won the first prize in the eHealth Adoption Awards 2017

My Diabetes My Way, the diabetes online platform created by University of Dundee for NHS Scotland, was given the eHealth Adoption Award at the eHealth Week 2017 conference being held in Malta.

“This is a major honour for the University and Scotland’s health system,” said Dr Deborah Wake, Clinical Senior Lecturer in the University of Dundee School of Medicine and Clinical Lead for My Diabetes My Way. “The My Diabetes My Way service is genuinely unique worldwide, providing electronic health records access to an entire national population. Every day we hear from users that our website is a useful tool that not only aids self-management, but improves a patient’s knowledge of their condition.”

The platform allows patients to have online access to test results, clinic letters and data driven tailored treatment plans. It also contains multimedia resources aimed at improving self-management, including traditional information leaflets, interactive educational tools, videos describing diabetes-related complications and testimonials from people with diabetes talking about their experiences.

About the awards

The eHealth Adoption Awards recognise the work of adopters, and their technological suppliers, in implementing eHealth innovation for the benefit of patients. By promoting them as a reference in their sector, we hope to inspire other organisations to improve the delivery of health and care-related services with the support of innovative technology.

The selection of the finalist teams was based in the degree of innovation (how new it is), the impact on the delivery of health and care services

for individuals, its effectiveness (how mature and successful the project is) and the scalability of the idea (how easy would be for other organisations to replicate).

Only one of the three teams invited to pitch in Malta will raise up as the first edition's winner and will receive a trophy and the recognition of being an example to follow in adoption of eHealth technology.
